Splashing Out

Throughout history many cultures have welcomed the warm, healing embrace of a long, hot soak in a tub.

Egyptian royals took theirs with essential oils and flowers. The Romans and Japanese bathed communally in thermae and onsens.

Wallowing in warm water is one of the oldest forms of alternative therapy, and there’s good reason why this practice has stood the test of time. The comfort of warm water is hard wired in our brains from infancy.

Hot tubs and swim spas are a tonic for aching muscles because they raise the temperature of sore muscles and block pain receptors.

Husband and wife Mark and Mandy bought their Hydropool Self Cleaning 670 Gold, 6-person hot tub last September.

They had come into some inheritance and thought a nice way to remember their loved one was by buying something they could all enjoy as a family and share with friends.

They spent about a year looking at options but eventually decided to “keep it local” and buy from Hydropool Wiltshire.

Adam and his team offered flexibility when it came to the finances plus a great discounted price. Mark and Mandy also liked the fact that it was a “one stop shop” and the team recommended suppliers who could prepare the base and fix the electrics as well as give on-going maintenance advice.

“We’d always gone on holidays where there was a hot tub. Having our own has added another room to the house”

Mark and Mandy use their hot tub 5 or 6 times a week whatever the weather.

“We celebrated Christmas with the family in it when snow was on the ground and watched the Six Nations Final in it with friends”

They chose a self-cleaning hot tub because in the long run it didn’t cost that much more. Their advice would be mindful of the maintenance costs which work out at about £700 – £750 a year.

Mark says they’re already reaping the benefits.

“As you get older you get the little niggles, aches and pains. I used to have to stretch out my back every day and now we have the hot tub I don’t need to.”

It took some time for them to decide where to position the hot tub in their walled garden. They took into consideration protection from wind, not being over looked by neighbours and any light pollution to get the best view of the stars.

Mark and Mandy booked a “wet test” at the showroom at Whitehall Garden Centre before making their purchase.

“It was well worth doing and helped us decide which design worked best for us.”

Mandy and Mark’s neighbours have been so impressed by their hot tub and the service they’ve received from Hydropool Wiltshire they’re having one installed too.
