Winter garden activities
With soggy gardens, dark nights and chilly temperatures, it can feel like we are shackled to the insides of our houses during winter, with lots of time to fill and a short list of fun activities to try. If you have children, or grandchildren, this season can seemingly provide very little opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. But, at Malvern Garden Buildings, we believe in making the most of the great outdoors, whatever the weather. How about trying out one of our winter garden activities to get some of that fresh winter air into your lungs?
Creature hunt: Even though we humans don’t always fancy being out in the cold, you can be sure to find a whole world of fascinating creatures, creepy-crawlies and animals enjoying your garden. Make a list of animals, insects and birds for the kids to go on a hunt for around the garden and tick them off their list once they’ve found them! A simple prize for the one who spots the most makes it even more exciting too!
Hot picnic: Who said picnics always have to be beige, cold food for the summer? Make a spicy stew, warm up some tasty pies or slather some crusty rolls to dip into a delicious hearty soup. Sit around the table in your summerhouse and feel your delicious food warm your soul as you enjoy the wintery nature around you.
Light it up: Just because the nights are long and the sun sets early in the day, it doesn’t mean the fun has to stop there! Keep out those Christmas fairy lights and hang them around the garden or inside your Malvern Garden Building to give you some magical light to stay outside past dusk. Snuggle up, read a book and guzzle sweet hot chocolate. The garden can seem like a truly magical place at night!
So don’t despair that summer is still a long time away – make the most of your summerhouse all year round! And do
