Caley Brothers grow fresh oyster mushrooms in a green and sustainable way from their home in West Sussex. They also host mushrooming workshops and create grow your own kits, so that you too can grow mushrooms at home.
The world is your Oyster
Home grown produce has always been a huge part of siblings Lorraine and Jodie’s lives – growing seeds, planting potatoes and even the odd mushroom kit in a damp cupboard sit fondly in their childhood memories. And now, growing and learning to grow mushrooms together has given them more than they could have imagined.
Seeing the design come together
Caley Brothers were displaying their mushrooms at Chelsea Flower Show 2021, as part of the RHS garden of hope, where they met James. After seeing the spectacle of ‘The Green Room’, Lorraine got talking to James about all things houseplants and mushrooms, the curiosity surrounding mushrooms, and their mutual love for both.
James reached out to Caley Brothers earlier this year and asked them to be part of his vision for Planet Studio. And now a variety of pink, grey and yellow mushrooms are growing ready for Chelsea.
Jodie says, “To be able to help James realise his vision is very exciting for us. It’s such a journey from the moment he shared his initial mood boards and design concept. We’re so excited to see our mushrooms grown in an entirely different space from what we’re used to. Their form and beauty is really going to enhance the pots that James has designed with Adam. To be able to see them within the concept as a whole is so exciting. We can’t wait to share it with everyone.”
Meet the 2022 Collaborators
A collision of houseplants, bespoke ceramics, textiles and retro lighting will convey the eccentricities that were synonymous with Studio 54.
